Athirappilly Falls is 60 km from the city. The drive to the waterfall is beautiful through winding roads past small villages. During the monsoon, the falls look mystical, with a gentle mist of water rising from the falls. Visitors flock to the falls during the monsoon.

Athirapilly Fall is the largest waterfall in Kerala and is popularly called the Niagara Falls of India. Visitors are The Chalakudu river originates at Anamudi mountains, the river trifurcates into three falls. The Chalakudu river flows towards Athirappilly where it cascades down from 80 ft high, making for a spectacular view. The river eventually flows through the Vazhanchal Forest towards the Arabian Sea.

The breathtaking location has formed the backdrop for several movies. The view of the green Shoular range looking of the waterfall looks like a picture postcard.

Athirppilly has a unique ecosystem. The dense forest near waterfalls is home to animals like the Asian elephant, Bengal Tiger, Indian Leopard, and the endangered Hornbill.

The Thrissur District Tourism organizes daily jungle safaris to explore the beautiful forest. Other activities include nature camp, children's park, and eco-shop.

Hello Richa, Alcohol is not served in houseboat. However you can get it from the givernment approved shops for your personal consumption on the way and consume in the houseboat
