The backwaters at Chettuva are synonymous with Mangroves, Chinese fishing nets, and Forts. The backwaters are 21 km from Thrissur and are adjacent to the Arabian Sea. A houseboat tour is usually 5 hours long, where visitors get to explore the backwaters and gain an insight into life on it.

Chettuva is home to the largest mangrove forests in Kerala. The Cannoli Canal and Enamuvu lake have helped the mangroves flourish. The Canoli lake ultimately joins Chettuva and Emamavu Lakes. Several migratory birds visit the mangrove every year.

Visitors can witness villagers deftly going about their livelihoods. Toddy-making and mussel harvesting are the main sources of livelihood. They get a closer look at the unique trees in the forest.

You can shop at the toddy shop and experience an authentic meal served on the houseboat.

Hello Richa, Alcohol is not served in houseboat. However you can get it from the givernment approved shops for your personal consumption on the way and consume in the houseboat
