Echo Point- What is in the name?

When you have climbed a spot of your choice where you can now shout your name and as expected the place will echo back your name to welcome you.   Echo Points are places where the original sound making a vibrating effect and comes back to the source from where it is generated.  For this reason, Echo Point Munnar creates a buzz among tourists.  

The facts related to the Munnar Echo point are impressive. Most importantly, Munnar Echo Point is located at an altitude of about 600 feet. The sheer height of the mountain will give you goosebumps. 

The three mountain ranges namely the Mudrapuzha, the Nallathanni and the Kundala meet together in Munnar Echo Point. Again, Kundala Lake flows on the bank makes the picture complete and really captivating.   

The images of Echo Point suggest how nature has flourished in this silent hill station. A lot of nature enthusiasts travel to this place to explore the wilderness near the sky. 

However, trekking to the Munnar Echo Point is not easy. The reason is that the trail is steep. The rocks can create obstacles too. Carry a walking stick with you to ensure safety and enjoy trekking. 

Echo Point is situated on the Top Highway Road in the Idukki district of Kannan Devan Hills. 

Entry fee:  The entry fee to Echo Point Munnar is minimal.

Echo Point Munnar is open from 07:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m.

Activities

Trekking

Most tourists climb up the peak to enjoy the magnificent views. Again, the echoes you get will surely delight you.  

Boating

Kundala Lake is ideal for boating. In this huge and peaceful lake, you can spend quality time on either paddle-boats or speed-boats. 

Bird Watching

Birds find their way up the peak easily. As a result, Echo Point is a safe home for different kinds of birds.   

Photography

You can take unlimited photographs of the beautiful natural abundance and also while you are trekking the mountain and all without any charge. 

Shopping 

There are makeshift shops that sell souvenirs. You can also try locally freshly plucked pineapples and mangoes. 

Eating  

After the hike, it is natural that you will get hungry. There are plenty of restaurants nearby that you can check. To name some of the restaurants are Eastend Munnar Dining, Copper Castle Restaurant, Hotel Sri Nivas.  You will be happy to taste delicious and mouthwatering South Indian dishes after trekking.

Top Station Munnar

The highest railway station, Top Station Munnar is also located close to Echo Point.  Top Station can be found in the Kundala Valley above 1700 meters. In the old days, tea used to be served to the passengers at this station. 

Mattupetty Dam

Mattupetty Dam is a manmade wonder. The dam is used for water conservation and hydropower generation. It was constructed in the late 1940s. People visit this concrete gravity dam with interest.

Tips

• Bring your identity card and other important documents to Munnar Echo Point. 
• You have to hike the mountain to reach Echo Point. So it is better to start early. 
• If you are travelling during winter, you should carry woollen clothes, scarves and ear mufflers. 
• Wear comfortable shoes to walk and trek.

Munnar Echo Point is only 17.2 kilometres from Munnar. The most convenient way to reach Munnar Echo Point is to drive. You can take your own car or hire a taxi. It will take an hour to reach Munnar Echo Point.
