Chokramudi Peak is among the highest peaks of Munnar. It is above 7200 feet above sea level. Strangely enough, the frightening height of the peak attracts the trekkers to hike it instead of keeping them afar.

The trek starts at Bison valley in Munnar. You will finish trekking at Gap Road, Munnar. At the initial stage, the trek is not very difficult to hike. You will be awestruck to see the Annamalai Hills. The trail is well maintained and well defined.
You will be surprised to observe that as you move up, the tea plantations give way to rocky terrains. Take a break at Kurisumala. You can also click photographs as many as you can. The second half of the trek is steep. Moreover, you will also feel little altitude gain. However, when you reach the zenith of Chokramudi you will feel like a winner. The return trek is an easier one. It will take 1.5 hours to complete. Try to come back before it is dark.
Forest Department also allows you to camp in Munnar and in the foothills of Chokramudi Peak.
There will be a guide or instructor with you during the trek. He will help you in case you are an amateur trekker. You will have pleasant experiences without the fear of getting lost.
The distance of Chokramudi Peak from KSRTC Depot Munnar is around 16 kilometres. You have to move towards Madurai SH gap road. You can hire a taxi or go by any public transport to reach the base.
The most preferable time to visit Chokramudi Peak is December to February.
Chokramudi Peak is open from 6 am to 6 pm.

The charge for the Indian citizens is 400 rupees. On the other hand, for foreigners it is 600 rupees. You do not have to pay any charge for photography.
