Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple or Sree Ananda Padmanabhaswamy Temple is one of the most famous Lord Vishnu Temples in Kerala,located in East Fort Thiruvananthapuram. Lord Vishnu is enshrined here in eternal sleep of yognidra lying on Sri Anantha, the hooded snake.
Sree Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple is one of the 108 holi places of Lord Vishnu. The capital city of Kerala – Thiruvananthapuram is named after the Lord in this temple. The word Thiruvananthapuram literally means “The land of Sree Anantha Padmanabhaswamy. Followers believe that the Lord has personally come in disguise and had saved many times the Travancore Kingdom from the clutches of enemies. According to traditions, Sree Padmanabhaswamy Kshetram is believed to have been worshipped by Chandra (Moon God) and Lord Indra (the head of the Devas). The idol of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is made up of 12008 salagramams that are from Nepal, from the banks of river Gandhaki. The followers believe that the Lord Mahavishnu has personally come in disguise and had saved Travancore Kingdom many times from the clutches of enemies.
What to wear on a visit to this holi temple?
Women will be allowed inside the temple in a long ankle length skirt although sarees are the safest choice for a visit to Padmanabhaswamy temple. Wearing a full sleeved top is also the best for women, although men are contrarily expected to shed their shirt and enter chaste of chest.
What is strictly prohibited is short or bifurcated garments for either sex – churidars, pants , shorts, short or mid length skirts or dresses. Men can loan a mundu there to wear over their pants, but there aren’t sarees on loan for women.

There are multiple differences with respect to interiors and service. Premium house boats is similar to 4 star resorts and will be having better interiors and furnishing, food menu with more options and cruise time will be slightly more. However deluxe houseboat will be similar to 3 star resorts and will have standard interiors and furnishing. In deluxe house boats, AC will be usually operated only at night from 9 PM to 6 AM , whereas in premium houseboats AC will be operated for 24 hours . The cost difference is there , however if you are not on a show string budget, then we recommend premium houseboats
Is Varkala a good option for swimming lovers?
Yes Varkala is a great place to swim in non monsoon seasons . It is a Cliff Beach and cleaner than Kovalam
